In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful.

bis.mi Allahi (a)l.rraH.maEni (a)lrraHiy.mi

By the heaven and the visitant by night,

wa(a)lssamaA~_ei wa(a)lTTaAriqi

and what do you know what the visitant by night is?

wamaA Aad.raYEka maA (a)lTTaAriqu

A shining star!

(a)lnnaj.mu (a)lththaAqibu

There is no soul without a Guardian over it.

Ain. kullu naf.s(in) lammaA `alay.haA HaAfiZ(un)

Then let man at least consider from what he is created.

fal.yan.Zuri (a)l.AinsaEnu mimma khuliqa

He is created from a spurting fluid

khuliqa min. maA~_e(in) daAfiq(in)

that issues forth from between the backbone and the breast-bones.

yakh.ruju min[m] bay.ni (a)lSSul.bi wa(a)lttaraA~Yeibi

Surely He (the Creator) has the power to create him again.

AinnahU `alaYE raj.`ihI laqaAdir(un)

The Day the hidden secrets are held to scrutiny,

yaw.ma tub.laYE (a)lssaraA~Yeiru

then man will neither have any power of his own nor any helper.

famaA lahU min quwwa(t)(in) walaA naASir(in)

By the heaven that sends down rain

wa(a)lssamaA~_ei dhaAti (a)lrraj.`i

and by the earth that splits (at the sprouting of vegetation),

wa(a)l.Aar.Di dhaAti (a)lSSad`i

it is a decisive Word.

AinnahU laqaw.l(un) faS.l(un)

It is no jest.

wamaA huwa bi(a)l.haz.li

These people (i.e. the disbelievers of Makkah) are devising some plans,

Ainnahum. yakiyduwna kayd(an)A

and I, too, am devising a plan.

waAakiydu kay.d(an)A

So leave the disbelievers, O Prophet; leave them to themselves for a while.
